Circa 1970's nang sinimulang pag-aralan ang origins at evolution ng gay vocabulary sa bansa.

Phrases like "gay lingo" at "swardspeak" were used to described their esoteric language na mabilis pumasok sa mainstream.

Two years ago, Louie Cano came up with "Baklese" Pinoy Pop Dictionary.

The fact na mabilis mag-evolve at manganak ang Baklese only shows how creative and flexible its speakers are.
Saka, sa totoo lang, meron bang distinct gay phraseology sa ibang bansa?
Listed among the synonyms of "bading" are mukla, vadush, okler, klaboom, lanak and baclug.

Kapag ang isang tao'y baliw, maaari siyang tawaging avalour, ngaosh, teririt or krung-krung.

"Yes" can also mean amang, plangan, or plasma while "No" is also wirishima, cancel or judi.

MAJERAP - Ang taong walang pera ay majerap, difficult or pureza while ang "Tanga" ay flower, bobella or moolalah.

Some distinct patterns emerge kapag inurirat ang Baklese.

IndieWatch: Lovebirds - Joseph Izon and Andres Alexis Fernandez

From the Director of the film Sikil (Unspoken Passion) whose film was screened at Valencia, Spain; Cancun, Mexico and Palm Springs, California and from his another film Kurap (Blink), Ronaldo Bertubin helmed a coming-out tale starring acclaimed actors Boots Anson Roa and Tommy Abuel.

Lovebirds stars new actor Joseph Izon and, imported from Puerto Rico, Andres Alexis Fernandez, who will play the role of Alexis and Mario respectively.

Synopsis: Alexis is a foreigner who came to the Philippines to meet his chat mate Mario. As a filipino culture, visitors are welcome by family host with welcoming party of food, fiesta and people. When Alexis visited Mario, Mario’s parents told the neighborhood that Alexis is a girl, but surprisingly it was Alex. Mario’s mother denied that he was Alexis and introduced him as Alex the brother of Alexis to the neighborhood. His parents known about Mario’s sexuality until at the end Alexis become closer and fell inlove with Mario. With all the laugh and cry. A story of a foreigner in another country, different culture, and acceptance of love will have all a happy ending.

Lovebirds is set to premiere on December 4, 2008 at Cine Adarna inside UP Diliman, Quezon City.

The video for Pink's newest single, "Sober," was released with a lot of buzz because it's supposed to depict female masturbation — sort of. The music video actually symbolically shows Pink messing around on a bed with another version of herself. This territory isn't anything new for Pink. According to the box-office report from the festival insider, Star Cinema’s entry to this year’s MMFF - “Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat” - leads 1st day earnings.

Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat is the sequel to the no. 1 all-time box-office hit “Ang Tanging Ina” which was shown in 2003. The movie is topbilled by Ai Ai delas Alas and Eugene Domingo among others and directed by Wenn de Ramas for Star Cinema.

There are early predictions that the Ai Ai delas Alas-starrer will lead the box-office race and it looks like it’s heading to reality as tickets for the Star Cinema movie were sold out in some SM Cinemas. The said comedy film is rated G by the MTRCB for the whole family to enjoy.

Running in second place is Iskul Bukol: 20 Years After. Tito, Vic and Joey reprises their role in the film adaptation of their hit tv sitcom 20 years ago. Directed by Tony Reyes, expect to catch several stars making a cameo in the movie including Bong Revilla Jr., Manny Pacquiao and Sharon Cuneta.

In 3rd place is the 10th installment of the popular horror franchise Shake, Rattle and Roll. The Regal Films entry is topbilled by Gerald Anderson, Kim Chiu and Marian Rivera.

On the other hand, two entries received the highest grade of “A” for excellence in filmmaking from the Cinema Evaluation Board. The Viva Films entry “Baler” and the Jinggoy Estrada-Christopher de Leon starrer “Magkaibigan” will be exempted from paying amusement tax to the government for receiving the “A” grade. Apparently, “Baler” badly needed the tax exemption because according to reports, it is the highest-budgeted film among the 8 entries of the Metro Manila Film Festival this year.

The Awards Night is happening on December 27. Among the 8 entries, Magkaibigan and Baler are expected to haul trophies including Best Picture. Unless, another surprise is in store.

The Metro Manila Film Festival will run from December 25, 2008 to January 7, 2009 in theaters nationwide.

The historical film “Baler” is the big winner at the 34th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) awards night Saturday evening by taking home 10 trophies including Best Picture.

Baler also received the grade of “A” from the Cinema Evaluation Board and a commendation from the Department of Education.

The other MMFF entry that received an A grade from the CEB is Magkaibigan. But the Jinggoy Estrada starrer only managed to win 1 award courtesy of Christopher de Leon as Best Actor. Shake, Rattle and Roll X, Desperadas 2, Iskul Bukol 20 Years After and Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat each won 1 award, too.

Dayo, on the other hand, grabbed 4 trophies while One Night Only won 2 awards coutesy of Manilyn Reynes for Best Supporting Actress and Joey Reyes for Best Story.

For the first time in years, the Best Float was scrapped from the awards line-up.

making "TWILIGHT" filipino version..?

local tv remake of the vampire movie “Twilight.” This week, ABS-CBN said it’s not true.

Denying the report made by it’s own news website, ABS-CBN Corporate Communications head Bong Osorio said “There is no truth to the web reports that ABS-CBN is doing a local adaptation of Twilight. ABS-CBN will be the first to announce if it is, in fact doing so.”

The so-called local tv adaptation was supposed to be called “Takipsilim” with Shaina Magdayao and Rayver Cruz as the lead stars. According to the report by abscbnnews.com, the rights for the tv remake of Twilight was bought by ABS-CBN for the price of 1 million US Dollars with Ignite Media as co-producer.

It was also mentioned in the article that the taping of Takipsilim will begin in February 2009 with Cathy Garcia-Molina as the director.

After the rumor was published in the popular Perez Hilton blog, Twilight fans all over the world reacted negatively with 7,600 entries in the petition against the Filipino version of the vampire film.
